The program asked to design spaces that can host 100 people during corporate and family gatherings comfortably inside or outside. << NEW PROJECT I MAGGY'S FARM The program for this project included: resurrecting and modernizing the existing farm house to create a new guest house, restoring and moving an existing barn, creating a new pool house and residence for a professional couple seeking country retreat. SELECTED PROJECT>> HOFFMAN HOUSE This house was designed for a couple inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement and the stories and sculptures of fairies & wizards. Their Russian heritage also influenced the design by combining characteristics of tall Russian churches with whimsy humor and magic. HOFFMAN HOUSE PATEL RESIDENCE <<SELECTED PROJECT I PATEL RESIDENCE As first generation immigrants, these clients asked us to create an environment which captured their homeland. The house design is based on an 3000 year old grid system used in India while incorporating colors, spaces (courtyard) and myths reinforcing the Indian feel. The original firm AKAR Designers was started in 1986 by Sanjay Jani while he was a student in Bombay, India. <<AKAR Architecture + Design has grown steadily in the last five years, acquiring a diverse range of projects including single & multi-family residences, commercial facilities, shopping mall stores, corporate interiors, furniture and light fixture design and graphic design. Members of our staff have been frequently honored for their achievements and their active involvement in the community. We have developed a local and state reputation for the highest standards of design, management and technical achievements. The projects are developed in a hands-on approach from conception to construction observation. We also make scaled models at various stages of design to make proportion, scale and detail decisions for most of our projects. Key to successful architecture lies not only in the building design but also in the design of the building process. Making the process work requires the ability to lead, communicate, and coordinate the activities of many different individuals, groups and organizations. Flexibility is essential; no two projects are ever the same each has its own unique features, requirements, restrictions, schedules and budgets. Most importantly, we know that a successful building cannot be designed without the teamwork between client and architect.
