The animal image is appealing to me on many levels. It is the ancient
relationship humans have had to them, whether through hunting, fearing,
raising, or loving them. The connection between animals and humans
is deep, mysterious, often explored, but never fully understood.
I have used animal images in my designs on my functional pots for
several years. Pottery, too, has had a role in people’s daily
lives since time immemorial, and I want my pots to function, while
at the same time express some of the life and energy and efficiency
of the animal shape.
