RANDY JOHNSTON
I WISCONSIN
The clay becomes an intimate token of the artist and intimate memory of the fire. The fire is an essential way of marking the surface and transforming the object and giving it to life. The whole notion of firing the piece is its moment of transformation. When one looks at woodfired objects, the ideal would be to feel that one is witnessing intimacy and sense of immediacy and enery - life inforced vby emotion. Randy Johnston was a pre-med student suduced by clay. He studied in the studio of Tatsuzo Shimaoka and has b ecome a superb ceramic artist. He has taugh demonstrated, lectured and held workshops all through the midwest, Canada, Norway, and Chile. CLICK HERE TO SEE ARTIST'S WORK
