Monika Shodel-Muller and Werner Nowkao founded their studio in 1979 after several years of studying and apprenticing in ceramic arts at GHK Kassel in Germany. As early as 1980, they began exhibiting their artwork and quickly were recognized as new talent with very clean and colorful designs. Their work has been honored with prestigious awards in France, Italy and Germany. Exhibits include those in Paris, Tokyo, Cairo, Auckland, Florence and New York. Monkika trained under the renowned master potters Elli and Wilhelm Kuch. Later, she studied under another notable German potter, Walter Popp. Werner 'happened" upon ceramics some twenty years ago, but has clearly made it his life focus.
