"My functional pots add another dimension, I hope, to the user's everyday life. Influences are diverse, ranging from Early American pots, quilts and folk art to Asian and European ceramics traditions. The carved and drawn surfaces function decoratively but attempt to be relevant to contemporary life. Through the images resist a specific narrative reading, the iconography has been chosen for its personal resonance." Born in 1961, in Kendallville, Indiana. Lives in Houston, Minnesota where he is a full-time potter. Attended Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana (BFA ceramics 1983) and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (MFA ceramics 1985). Recipient of Mid-Atlantic States Arts Consortium/NEA residency grant (1986) and National Endowment for the Arts fellowship (1990).
